This should have never been allowed to happen, last year when I took office in the SU in the summer, we got wind of these plans by pure luck in that they actually trialled it in an apartment an incoming sabbat was staying in. We shut it down then and thought we had made clear enough our point with the powers that be that this would stay off the radar.
UCD Res and its dodgy head have pulled a fast one in no shock move by sneaking this through in the summer transition period when the new team are trying to get their feet under the desk. Changes are needed and serious reform of how residences are run in UCD. Possible changes to how the SU operates in terms of start of terms/end of terms should be looked at too. The summer is a very clear weak point in the SU

Why would anyone willingly live on campus? It amounts to living in a boarding school. You can’t even have guests over after 10PM, without signing them in hours in advance. Whatever about it being cheaper, living off campus is definitely the way to go if you want to really experience what living away from home means.
