MINISTER Simon Coveney TD will visit UCD on the 28th of February, week 6 of term, in the Garrett Fitzgerald Debating Chamber between 3pm and 5pm.
The Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government will elicit the views of student and faculty on the Ireland 2040 Our Plan: National Planning Framework. Student and staff will have the opportunity to give their views on critical issues outlined in the plan which you can find out more about here.
Minister Coveney stated “while we face many challenges presently, we know we need to think ahead for a radically different Ireland of 2040.”
The Plan will provide a framework for future development and investment in Ireland. The Ireland 2040 Our Plan website describes the plan and gives people the opportunity to give their opinions on the plan until March 16th.
Their website states: “as well as considering what future we want for our people and communities, this process will have implications for the types of infrastructure that we may need in the future, how we relate to our environment and how we adapt to the pressures and costs of climate change. We must also consider interactions with Northern Ireland and our wider marine territory. It will be critical to identify what needs to be done to ensure that we can put a coherent plan into practice and to achieve success.”
