No Jedward for UCD Ball

X Factor stars Jedward have been forced to withdraw from this year’s UCD Ball as a result of the ongoing air travel restrictions around Europe.
Their cancellation comes just one day before they were due to play in Belfield.
Jedward’s booking to appear in UCD was subject to the UCD Students’ Union being able to offer helicopter transport from UCD to Castlebar, Co Mayo, where the twins had already announced a gig as part of their ongoing nationwide tour. It is understood that no helicopter clearance has been given, as Ireland’s airports work to remove the passenger backlog caused as a result of the ash cloud, and that the SU have thus been forced to allow the twins prioritise their earlier commitments.

so is this definite? I highly doubt its cos of air restriciton seeing as the other acts are making it and most flights are back on anyway, there must be another reason is it cos of that stupid facebook group saying they will egg them?
Em, wasn’t it a bit obvious? On Friday the 23rd of April they are playing at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar starting at 19:30. And that’s part of their tour! So they obiously won’t be at the UCD ball!
Puhlease, they clearly bailed…as if they were actually stuck in europe somewhere.
unless its a ‘brilliant’ tactic by UCDSU
The official comment we were given from the SU is that when the arrangements were made for Jedward to play the Ball, they had already been booked for Castlebar that evening. Thus, they agreed to put the lads on the bill earlier in the afternoon and to provide helicopter transport for them to get back to Mayo in time for their other performance.
Because of the ongoing air travel difficulties and the focus on clearing passenger backlogs, the SU have been unable to get clearance from the Irish Aviation Authority for the helicopter to make the journey from UCD to Mayo and thus have had no alternative but to allow Jedward comply with their earlier commitments and to withdraw them from the UCD Ball lineup.
Haha…Castlebar…bahaha.
Sorry, this is a private joke.
