Great interview. Thanks.

Ann's comment: "Re the smoking caterpillar. Disney’s original Alice film was notable for the way in which the character’s smoke was used to form the words he was speaking. What do they think Tim Burton is going to do, set him on fire?"

Smoking policies have changed since Disney's 1951 Alice in Wonderland.

Ann's comment: "Good interview, however Alan Rickman and Rima Horton are rather famously partnered but not married, unless they’ve tied the knot in secret."

What difference does it make if he's "partnered" or married? None of us really knows, anyways.

Ann's comment: "Also, I think I’m as weary as Alan Rickman is of people asking him in interviews about his bad guy characters."

I think we should let the interviewers do their job, and let Mr. Rickman answer in whatever way he sees fit.

If... there is no Hagwarts with out Hagrid, then it is equally true there would be no Harry Potter without Severus Snape.

Excellent interview. While I appreciate all I've seen of Rickman's film work (not to mention his personal appearance), I hope he'd pardon me for being completely mad about his fantastic Sheriff of Nottingham. ("Cancel Christmas" indeed! I'm still laughing!) No one else can ever play the character without being unfavorably compared. And Snape: Perfection. It must be lovely to be so talented. BTW, his U.S. interview in which in commented on western 'singer' Toby Keith won my heart. Talent AND taste!

I'm very pleased to see that this interview hasn't covered all the same ground as usual with an Alan Ricman interview.
As an Alan Rickman fan i'm always hungry for a bit more information or for it at least to be presented in a different way.
We got a little more insight into what he thinks of some of the roles he's taken on.
Congratulations to both the interviewer and to Alan Rickman.

Also, I think I'm as weary as Alan Rickman is of people asking him in interviews about his bad guy characters. There are many other question I'd like to see interviewers ask of him. For example, comments about what it's been like to watch those young actors grow up on the Harry Potter set quite literally under the tutorship of some of the most accomplished adult actors in the world.

Mr. Rickman, in the tradition of New Yorkers passing you on the street, please accept the same compliment from this fan in Alabama - "I like your work!"

Thank you for this very good interview. From the various occasions when I had the pleasure to be part of the audience in a Q & A with Alan Rickman I can especially confirm your statement that he "[...] possesses a refined sophistication – his manner of speaking is eloquent, almost poetic and is interspersed with a wry wit which ignites the fixated audience into intermitted bouts of uproarious laughter". And he is surely a really great actor.
